Hey Long Island and Queens peeps! Spring has sprung, and let’s be honest, nobody wants their patio furniture feeling left out of the party. Those winter shrink wrap days are over, and it’s time to set your furniture free! Don’t worry, ditching the plastic prison doesn’t have to be a tangled mess. Follow this easy-peasy guide, and your patio furniture will be ready to soak up the sunshine in no time.

Gear Up!
Sharp Scissors or Utility Knife: Pick your weapon of choice. A utility knife cuts cleaner, but scissors are friendlier for beginners.
Work Gloves (Optional): Safety first! These can save your fingers from any surprise nicks.
Sunny Disposition (Highly Recommended): Spring cleaning is more fun with a smile (and maybe some tunes!).
Step 1: Find the Starting Point
Think back to when you wrapped your furniture last fall. There’s probably a corner or seam where the plastic party started. That’s your escape hatch!

Step 2: Snip and Unwind
Careful Cuts: Using your chosen tool, make a small cut along the seam to create an opening. Think “surgery for shrink wrap,” not “wild snipping.”
Slowly Does It: Unwrap the plastic gently, peeling it back towards yourself like you’re unwrapping a giant present.

Step 3: Don’t Panic About Water Pockets
When removing the shrink wrap, you might notice some water pooling on top of the plastic wrap. This is normal and is caused by condensation that has built up over the winter. The good news is, this water doesn’t touch your furniture because of the shrink wrap protection. There’s no need to cut or pierce the wrap to drain the water, as that could damage both the wrap and the furniture underneath. The water will evaporate naturally once exposed to fresh air and sunshine.

Step 4: Breathe Easy
Once the wrap is completely gone, let your furniture air out for a bit. Spring showers might bring May flowers, but they can also leave behind some winter dust.
Pro Tip: See any stubborn dirt or grime? A damp cloth or a light scrub with soapy water should do the trick.

Step 5: Wipe and Shine:
With the plastic out of the way, give your furniture a quick wipe-down to make it sparkle and ready for spring and summer lounging.
Boom! Your patio furniture is free, ready to soak up the sun, and primed for all your outdoor adventures. Enjoy those warm evenings relaxing and making memories on your freshly unwrapped haven.

Bonus Tip: Feeling like your furniture needs a bigger spring refresh? Consider a new coat of paint or stain to give it a whole new look for the season.
Don’t stress about wrapping next winter!
